Dear Sir,

I am using 4080 controller (D3040 amplifier) to interface 8motors ( with encoders). In my application, Index pulse is not required for servo motor control.
For measurement of a additional rotary tool motion, 2 auxiliary encoders (with index pulse) are need to be configured. DMC 4080(D3040) does not support index pulse for auxiliary encoder inputs.

Please suggest:
1. Equivalent model of DMC 4080 (D3040) with index pulse in auxiliary encoder input.
2. Procedure to interchange configuration of main and auxiliary encoders. so that i can use auxiliary encoder for motor control and main encoder for tool motion measurement.

Thanks,
Jagadish K

Hi Jagadish,
With Galil controllers, the index is used to latch encoder position, therefore I am assuming that this is the functionality you desire. This is done with FI (or HM), and AL/RL. Since the index that you need to latch is not on the encoder that is used for servo motor control, the FI function wouldn't apply, which leaves us with AL/RL.

You can still latch the position of the aux encoder, it just uses a different input to latch from. Instead of using the Index inputs, you would use the general inputs (the specific input depends on the axis you desire to latch position). Please take a look at the AL and RL commands for how to latch the aux encoder position.

If my assumption regarding your needs are incorrect, or you have trouble implementing this, or have further questions regarding the details of your application's requirements, please give a call in to our Applications team or email support@galil.com

Regards,
Andrew
