I have two PCI Cards DMC 1846 & a DMC 1886 in a machine, existing win7x32 advantech PC has plenty of pci slots & it all works
(note: both cards are not on the same pci bridge)

I'm trying to upgrade the PC so I have two new PC's for trial, one has 1 pci slot & a few pcie, the other has only pcie (the one with only pcie is the preferred system - Advantech 975i )

both upgrade pc's have win10 x64, & I'm using a PCIe to PCI expansion chassis
- I got the startech pcie to PCI expansion system PEX2PCI4. With the two cards installed in that, galilTools can see the model & serial numbers & it all looks ok, however as soon as you plug in the cables from the galil cards to the DMC breakout module , the addresses show up but galilTools can no longer see the model or serial number of either card & fails to connect giving an error code for response time exceeding 500ms.

- using the pc with one pci slot it all works perfect, with one of the galil cards inside the PC & one in the startech expansion chassis - 0 problems

I'm awaiting the arrival of a magma pcie to pci expansion chassis now aswell, however I'm trying to figure out why the startech pcie to pci bridge wont work with two cards? is it a thing that two cards cant be on the same pci bridge?

My ideal scenario is that I have an advantech 975i pc with a magma PCIe to PCI expansion chassis & both galil cards in that chassis - how do i get this to work

thanks
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

It may be possible that the PCIe to PCI expansion that you are utilizing is not providing all of the required signals to the controller. When you use the PCIe to PCI expansion chasis, are you seeing the red light on the controller come on and stay on?

Please email a data sheet of the PCIe to PCI expansion product you are using to support at galil dot com and we can help look into this issue for you.
