Hello,

I would take a look at the Getting Started section of the DMC-40x0 user manual for a hand with getting the controller connected to the PC and beginning to send commands to set the correct parameters for the controller.
http://www.galilmc.com/support/manuals/man40x0.pdf

In general, you may want to set the parameters for your system in our software before moving to Mach3, since I do not know their method for setting the parameters. It is likely easiest to set them in our software Galiltools, and then burn the settings in with a BN command, and finally hooking back up to the other software.

I need help very urgent.
Where (SM) jumper of control DMC 4080
I wish I had a servo digital motor connected to the DMC-4080 and mach3 mill, I have to choose what kind of moter type servo or step.
(Set up by galill plugins for mach3 mill software)

thank you.

The Accelera series controllers no longer require the SM Jumper to be placed to produce Step / Direction output instead of +/-10V. You are able to control the type of output through MT command. MT of +/- 1.x produces analog output and MT +/-2.x will produce Step / Direction output.

I need user this plugin for DMC-4040,DMC-4080 control by mach3 mill software and control type close loop not open loop

thank you

Now, I use a mach3 plugin and I choose the motor type MT = 2.
I can set a mach3 to close loop fuction.
I was not an analog-digital servo motor, I can select the motor type is MT = 1 or not

Could you please clarify what your question is, I'm having a hard time understanding.

If you are using a stepper motor, this is an open loop system and your MT must be set to +/-2.x

If you have a servo motor, it would require encoder feedback and, thus, would be a closed loop system and MT would be set to +/-1.x

If you are having trouble setting up Mach3, Application Note 4428 goes over how to go through some of the set-up procedures: http://www.galilmc.com/support/appnotes/software/note4428.pdf

Please help me a little longer.
1. I have a digital servo motor.
2. I have a motion control Galil DMC-4143.
3.mach3 software.

I want to make the machine as a close loop.
I've tested as follows.
- I've set motion drive DMC-4143 by galil tool soft ware (MTA = 2) and set motor type in galil pulgin (Motor type = servo motor) and I jog command from an error on the mach3 then drive DMC-4143.
But if I set motor type in galil pulgin (Motor type step), I used to jog from mach3 it ok. But it was not a close loop.
How do I fix it.

Thanks.

If you have a servo motor, your motor type must be set to MT+/-1.x I would expect you to get an error, because MTA=2 is used for stepper motors. Since you have a servo motor start with MTA=1.

If you can get the motor working by setting up the motor type within Mach3, that is also fine.

You mentioned you were able to get a jog in Mach 3, but it was not closed loop. Could you explain? Was Mach3 simply setting an offset on the motor command lines and allow the motor to "run away"?

Please help me.
DMC 4143 mach 3 software can be used with it.

I'm not sure what your question is, could you please re-phrase it?

Also, this form post has been inactive for some time--I recommend opening up a new form if you have additional questions or giving me an e-mail directly at: marissat at galilmc dot com

How to control the speed of the brushed DC motor using PWM in DMC-4123 motion controller ? t

Please give the solution for this problem. either software/ hardware setting.

Thanks

Galil_MarissaT on 04/24/2013 - 09:12

Hi Praveen88:

It's true, DMC-41x3 can be put in a PWM/Step and Direction mode OR in a +/-10V motor command mode (This can all be done with the MT command). Which you need is dependent on what amplifier you're using. It is uncommon to control a brushed DC motor using PWM/Step and direction signals. I'm going to recommend that you forward me the specification sheet of the amplifier you're using to ensure that I make the correct recommendation. My e-mail is here: marissat@galilmc.com

please help me now
galil communication error

Problem I want to help fix it.
I run g code for mach3 mill about 2 hours
mach 3 software will stop working and the alarm.
"galil communication error" and the orange LED is on Broad galil it turn off.

History status.
LastErrors: a timeout occurred while waiting for response from control.

thank you

Hi Udom,

The most common reason for communication issues is due to incorrect network configuration. Please watch the following videos (listed by operating system) on how to set up a correct Static IP address for your network (note this may require that you re-assign the IP address of your controller).

Setting up a Correct IP Address (Windows 7, GalilSuite):
http://www.galilmc.com/learning/two-minute-display.php?video=connecting…

Setting up a Correct IP Address (Windows XP, GalilTools):
http://www.galilmc.com/learning/two-minute-display.php?video=connecting…

In addition, I would work with Mach3 as they may have a specific set of network requirements in order for their software to communicate with the DMC as expected.

How can I connect the DMC-4040 galil to windows 8 via Ethernet
I am trying it and it does not appear to me inside the devices in the program Galil desing kit
